Breaking the Fourth Wall: 'Mother of Assassins' Hijacks New Trailer for 'The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage'

Ahead of its October 6 premiere, the new fall anime "The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life" — affectionately known to fans as Chi-Fuyo — has released its main promotional video. Notably, this trailer does not follow the usual narration format.

Instead, comedian Rie Shibata, who voices the "Mother of Assassins," commandeers the trailer's narration, giving fans a special preview delivered in a comedic tone.

This fourth-wall-breaking stunt is seen as a distinctive trailer strategy for the series ahead of its broadcast debut, while also offering a glimpse of the role played by Shibata's character in the anime.
