North Korea says Monday's missile launch was a tactical ballistic missile test

North Korea confirmed on Monday that the missile launch it carried out the same day was a tactical ballistic missile test.

The announcement from Pyongyang came after regional authorities detected the launch. According to the statement, Pyongyang said it was a weapons test but did not provide further details about the missile's type or range.

The launch and North Korea's confirming statement come as the country's military activities continue to draw regional and international scrutiny.
