On March 12, Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued an official statement condemning US airstrikes targeting the country’s nuclear facilities. Tehran asserted that Washington’s military action constitutes a grave violation of the Safeguards Agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In the statement, Iran emphasized that the attacks are an act of blatant sabotage and run counter to the principles of international law. Tehran reaffirmed its inviolable right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, insisting that its nuclear activities remain within the IAEA’s oversight framework.
Iran also warned that the US move would escalate regional tensions and undermine diplomatic efforts to resolve the nuclear dispute. Tehran called on the international community to condemn the airstrikes and hold Washington accountable for the consequences.
Earlier, the United States announced it had conducted airstrikes against military targets in Syria, but Iran asserts that the strikes effectively targeted its nuclear facilities. Washington has not yet issued an official response to Tehran’s allegations.
