Iran has proposed a 30-day framework deal with the U.S. to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, end naval blockades, and stop hostilities in Iran and Lebanon. Follow-up talks on Iran's nuclear program would begin only after that initial deal is signed.
According to an Axios report on May 3, citing sources, Iran has handed the U.S. a 14-paragraph proposal aimed at reaching a framework agreement. In it, Tehran calls for both sides to agree within one month on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, ending the U.S. naval blockade, and halting hostilities in Iran and Lebanon.
Under the proposal, only after such an agreement is reached would talks move to a second, month-long phase to negotiate a deal on Iran's nuclear program.
Axios, citing sources, reported that Tehran allows an additional month for negotiations on its nuclear program after the initial agreement is signed.
