From February 2027, passengers flying with Australia's low-cost carrier Jetstar will have to pay to use overhead compartments for their carry-on luggage. The move aims to tackle overcrowding in the cabin, where many travelers bring large suitcases, making it difficult to find space for bags.
According to the airline's announcement, passengers will still be allowed to bring one small bag on board for free, but those wishing to use the overhead storage will incur an additional fee. A Jetstar representative said the decision was based on customer feedback about the lack of luggage space.
