Russian Ambassador to North Macedonia Dmitry Zykov says major political forces in the country have voiced support for US President Donald Trump in the conflict with Iran. He noted that religious solidarity has not significantly influenced public opinion, with those criticizing the US-Israeli action remaining a minority.
MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/. Russia's newly appointed ambassador to Skopje, Dmitry Zykov, in his first interview with TASS, stated that North Macedonia's political forces have expressed support for US President Donald Trump in the conflict with Iran.
"Regarding the US and Israeli armed aggression against Iran, the largest political forces in North Macedonia, targeting Muslim voters—whether in the ruling coalition or the opposition—have shown strong, undivided support for Washington's actions in a traditional manner," the ambassador said.
"Certainly, developments in the Middle East have drawn and continue to draw increasing local public attention, but religious solidarity has not had a rational impact on public opinion on this matter—individual political views play a decisive role," Zykov noted. "Those who openly point out the clearly harmful consequences of the US-Israeli adventure have turned out to be only a minority," he added.
