On February 5, at a regular press conference, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei sarcastically remarked that US policy toward Iran 'has reached the level of pure farce.' He made the comment after Washington announced additional sanctions targeting individuals and entities linked to Iran's missile program and maritime shipping network.
According to Baghaei, US actions are not based on reality and only reflect Washington's 'policy failure.' He stressed that the US approach toward Tehran 'lacks understanding and respect for the fundamental principles of international law.'
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also noted that the imposition of new US sanctions demonstrates Washington's 'inability' to achieve its political goals, while reaffirming that Iran will continue cooperating with international and regional partners under the Regional Consultation Mechanism in the Persian Gulf, established after a security conference attended by neighboring countries.
Baghaei emphasized that these consultations are aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and addressing common security issues. He said: 'We believe such efforts will help maintain peace and stability in the region.'
Earlier, on February 4, the US imposed new sanctions on several companies and oil tankers responsible for transporting Iranian crude oil, as part of a 'maximum pressure' campaign to cut off Tehran's revenues. Iran called these measures a 'violation of international law' and stated it would continue developing peaceful programs within the framework of NPT regulations.
