UN warns a record-hot year is almost certain by the end of this decade
The UN’s World Meteorological Organization warns there is an 86% chance a record-hot year will occur by 2030, with a 75% probability that 2026–2030 temperatures will exceed the 1.5°C threshold. The report, released as Western Europe suffers a May heatwave, also finds the Arctic is warming over 3.5 times faster than the global average.
