Alberta Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Separatist Referendum, Handing Win to Carney
Alberta voters have overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to start a process toward independence, according to a CBC projection, giving Prime Minister Mark Carney and unity advocates a clear win. With more than 1 million ballots counted, about 76% backed staying in Canada and 23% supported beginning a separation process. The referendum question was one of 10 on the ballot, with other results still being tallied.
