Japan: Prices of Nearly 5,000 Food and Beverage Items to Rise from September

A research firm's survey shows that prices for 4,923 food and beverage items in Japan will rise in September, more than triple the number from a year earlier and the highest monthly tally in over three years. Businesses cite rising raw material, logistics, and energy costs, which is expected to pressure consumer spending and prompt government support.
