Separatists Win Quebec Election, but Independence Remains Distant
The Parti Québécois won Monday's Quebec election, gaining 56 seats and more than doubling its vote share, but fell five seats short of a majority. That makes its promised referendum on independence after Trump leaves office in 2028 nearly impossible, and most Quebecers voted for parties opposed to a referendum.
