Russia’s losses in Ukraine nearly triple in a year
US intelligence and independent sources report that Russia’s manpower losses in Ukraine in 2026 have nearly tripled compared to the previous year, while territorial gains have slowed sharply. The DIA says Ukraine recaptured about 400 sq km in the Dnipropetrovsk area in the past quarter. President Zelensky reports Russian casualties of 145,000 this year, with each square kilometer of advance costing 179 soldiers.
