Former Students Rally Behind ICC President Akane Tomoko After US Sanctions
Former students of ICC President Akane Tomoko have expressed support for her after the US sanctioned her in August over allegations that the court infringes on national sovereignty. The students, who learned from her when she was a prosecutor and law lecturer, said they still trust her competence and integrity. Washington argues the ICC interferes in national sovereignty, while her supporters emphasize the court's role in pursuing international justice.
