Former Students Rally Behind ICC President Akane Tomoko After US Sanctions

Former students of International Criminal Court President Akane Tomoko have spoken out in her support after the United States imposed sanctions on her in August, accusing the ICC of infringing on national sovereignty.

According to the former students, Washington's sanctions have not changed their assessment of Akane, who has spent many years working in the field of international criminal justice.

The US imposed the sanctions on the argument that the ICC is interfering in the sovereignty of nations. Meanwhile, Akane's supporters stress the court's role in pursuing international justice.
