On the evening of Wednesday, June 25, following the Mexican national team's victory over the Czech Republic at the 2026 World Cup, a serious incident occurred in the popular tourist destination of Cabo San Lucas. A car drove into a crowd gathered to celebrate, leaving many people injured.
The Los Cabos municipal government confirmed in a statement: "According to initial information, the vehicle was surrounded by a group of people, and for reasons currently under investigation by authorities, the car drove through the crowd, causing injuries to many."
Currently, an unverified video circulating on social media shows a car plowing into the crowd. Reuters news agency said it could not verify the authenticity of this video.
Earlier that day, Mexico had secured a 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic at Mexico City Stadium, eliminating their opponent from the World Cup and finishing the group stage with a perfect record.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
