A teacher was killed and four others injured in a shooting at a school in Thailand, with the suspect—a student—later taking his own life, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, on the northwestern outskirts of Bangkok. Police identified the perpetrator as a student of the school. No further details have been released.
Images released by rescue workers showed students fleeing in panic as ambulances arrived at the scene. In one photo, a person lay on a stretcher outside an ambulance, while another was attended to by medical staff.
An 18-year-old student told Reuters that he initially thought it was fireworks or someone banging objects. "I didn't think it was a gun at first. There were many bangs: bang, bang, bang. Then silence. Then it started again," the student recounted.
Earlier, in February, a teacher was killed and a student wounded in a shooting at a school in Hat Yai district, southern Thailand. Additionally, in October 2022, a former police officer killed dozens of people, including children, in a gun and knife attack in Nong Bua Lamphu province.
