Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has emphasized that transport corridors are regarded as a strategic national priority. His remarks came as Tehran steps up infrastructure development and regional connectivity programs.
Aref said that investing in and completing transport corridors not only boosts trade and cuts logistics costs but also strengthens Iran's transit role on the international transport map. The vice president also stressed the need for cross-sector coordination to effectively implement key projects.
Analysts view this move as part of a long-term strategy to leverage the country's geopolitical position, linking road, rail, and port routes to support economic growth. Tehran has previously announced major plans to upgrade transport infrastructure, particularly along the North-South and East-West corridor routes.
Aref made the remarks at a transport symposium, as regional countries intensify cooperation to diversify supply chains and bolster energy and food security.
