A United Nations inquiry has accused Israel of systematically targeting Palestinian children in occupied Palestinian territory, asserting that Israel's actions in Gaza amount to genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, along with war crimes in the occupied West Bank.
In a report released Tuesday, the commission said that about 30% of those killed in Gaza since Israel's war began in October 2023 are children. Attacks on maternity and neonatal wards, along with a blockade on aid, have crippled children's chances of survival.
The commission said Israeli forces have destroyed orphanages and schools, and Palestinian children have been arbitrarily detained, tortured, and sexually abused in detention. The commission warned that killings and serious injuries continue even after the October 2025 'ceasefire', despite international law.
UNICEF estimates that more than 50,000 children have been killed or injured since the war began, with at least one Palestinian child killed on average every day in the eight months since the October 'ceasefire' took effect.
These images document the lives and losses of Palestinian children in Gaza and the West Bank as they struggle to survive bombings, displacement, and imprisonment, while holding on to a future that is being systematically taken away.
