Ukraine's General Staff said on June 24 that its forces used air-launched cruise missiles to strike a factory producing electronic components for missiles in Russia's western Voronezh region. The Ukrainian side described the plant as a "critical part" of Russia's defense production.
Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev confirmed that a manufacturing facility was damaged and three people were injured in the attack, but did not specify the nature of the sites. On Telegram, Gusev said air defense forces had destroyed several high-speed targets over Voronezh and warned residents of the risk of missile strikes.
In addition to the Voronezh strike, the Ukrainian military said it also attacked the Dubna Satellite Information Center in the Moscow region, noting thick smoke rising from the scene. The extent of damage is being assessed.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that over the past 24 hours, 84 drones heading toward the capital were shot down. Emergency services were deployed to areas where drones fell, but no further details were provided. The Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovskiy airports near the Russian capital temporarily suspended flights.
According to local news citing the Russian Defense Ministry, the country's air defense systems shot down a total of 301 drones overnight, including in areas of Ukraine controlled by Russia. The attack followed a drone strike last week targeting Moscow's only oil refinery.
On the same day in Ukraine, a Russian drone attack on the Sumy region killed a 13-year-old boy along with his father and grandmother. In the city of Zaporizhzhia, two people were killed and seven others injured in drone strikes. In the Odesa region, a Russian Iskander ballistic missile killed one person and wounded three, sparking a fire at an agricultural facility.
Additionally, in the annexed Crimean city of Sevastopol, authorities canceled outdoor events and turned off streetlights to save electricity. Ukraine's Navy said Russian drones struck the Panama-flagged cargo ship Victress, killing an Egyptian chef and forcing eight crew members to evacuate.
