Tottenham Hotspur have announced the successful signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City. The move takes the north London club's summer transfer spending to more than £300 million (equivalent to $409 million) under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who guided the team to safety from relegation last season.
Both clubs confirmed the deal on Monday but did not disclose financial details or the length of the contract. British media previously reported that the transfer is worth £75 million (about $102.2 million), with a potential £10 million ($13.63 million) in add-ons.
“Savinho is a player who brings energy, creativity, and quality in wide areas. He has the confidence to take on defenders and the ability to change a game with his invention,” De Zerbi said in a press release.
“We are delighted to have him, and I look forward to working with him, helping him continue to develop and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”
Savinho began his career at Atletico Mineiro before joining Troyes in 2022, but his breakout season came during a loan spell at Girona, where he scored 11 goals in 41 appearances, helping the club to a historic third-place finish in La Liga in 2024 and securing Champions League qualification.
He moved to Man City that summer and has since made 84 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals. The 22-year-old has also earned 13 caps for the Brazil national team.
Savinho is the latest signing in a busy transfer window for Tottenham, which has also brought in midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, along with defenders Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke.
The Savinho deal lifts the north London club's total spending to £322 million (about $438.9 million) including add-ons, as they rebuild their squad after finishing a lowly 17th last season.
According to British media, Tottenham are also in talks to sign Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Man City.
Tottenham began their Premier League campaign with a 0-3 defeat to Brentford on Saturday. They will host Charlton Athletic (a Championship side) in the second round of the League Cup on Wednesday, before entertaining Newcastle United on Saturday.
