Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran on October 14, marking an important meeting as the country faces numerous economic and political challenges at home and abroad.
During the meeting, the two leaders focused on domestic issues, including the economic situation, social welfare, and development policies. According to the official IRNA news agency, the discussions also covered regional and international matters, including measures to protect national security and Iran's interests in foreign relations.
This was the latest meeting between President Pezeshkian and Supreme Leader Khamenei since Pezeshkian took office in August. Under Iran's constitution, the Supreme Leader is the head of state with ultimate authority over domestic and foreign affairs, while the president is responsible for running the government.
In his remarks at the meeting, Supreme Leader Khamenei stressed the importance of national unity and strengthening internal capacity to overcome current difficulties. He called on the government to continue implementing policies to improve people's lives and promote sustainable development.
For his part, President Pezeshkian reported to Supreme Leader Khamenei on the government's recent activities and pledged to redouble efforts to address economic and social issues while promoting social justice. The meeting concluded with agreement to enhance coordination between state institutions to achieve shared goals.
