Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has voiced opposition to US measures of pressure and threats, asserting that these actions will not yield the results Washington desires.
In a statement published by Iranian state media, Pezeshkian stressed that the US administration needs to change its approach, rather than using coercive and bullying measures to achieve political goals. He said Tehran will not bow to external pressure and will continue to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the US, which have persisted for years over the nuclear program, economic sanctions, and regional differences in the Middle East. The Biden administration has previously expressed readiness to return to nuclear talks, but the two sides have yet to make significant progress.
Iran's official news agency IRNA quoted President Pezeshkian as emphasizing that Iran always supports the path of diplomacy but does not accept any form of imposition. He also warned that escalating tensions would not benefit any party and called on all sides to take constructive steps.
There has been no official response from the US to the Iranian leader's latest statement. However, analysts suggest this move indicates Iran remains steadfast in its firm stance against pressure from Washington.
