On June 11, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a congratulatory message to his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov on Kyrgyzstan's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2027-2028 term.
In the message, President Pezeshkian emphasized that Kyrgyzstan's election to this position is a recognition by the international community of the country's efforts to promote peace, security, and sustainable development. He also expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan will contribute positively to the activities of the UNSC during its upcoming term.
The Iranian president also recalled the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, affirming that Tehran is ready to coordinate with Bishkek on international and regional issues for the mutual benefit of both sides.
Kyrgyzstan was elected by the United Nations General Assembly as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2027-2028 term earlier this week. This is the first time the Central Asian nation will hold this position.
