The Tohoku Shinkansen resumed operations on Thursday after a partial suspension caused by delayed maintenance work, East Japan Railway Company (JR East) announced.
The issue occurred on the section between JR Nasushiobara Station in Tochigi Prefecture and JR Morioka Station in Iwate Prefecture. The suspension was implemented after maintenance work failed to proceed as scheduled, forcing authorities to halt operations to ensure safety.
Shortly after maintenance was completed, trains across the entire line gradually returned to normal service. There have been no reports of passenger injuries or significant damage related to the technical issue.
The Tohoku Shinkansen is one of the key high-speed rail lines in Japan's northeastern region, connecting the capital Tokyo with numerous prefectures in the north. Even brief disruptions can have a notable impact on daily travel schedules for local residents.
