Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi said on June 16 that leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) held frank discussions on issues related to China and North Korea during the summit.
Speaking to reporters, Takaichi emphasized that the dialogues took place in an open atmosphere, allowing parties to sincerely exchange views on security and political challenges in the region. While not disclosing specific details, the Japanese prime minister affirmed that G7 countries shared common assessments of the situation.
The G7 summit was held amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly concerning North Korea's military activities and missile program, as well as China's actions in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait.
Analysts say the discussions reflect G7 efforts to maintain a unified stance on regional security challenges while seeking diplomatic solutions to sensitive issues.
