German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has condemned Iranian drone and missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates and issued three demands: end the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, forgo nuclear weapons, and halt all threats against regional partners. He urged Tehran to return to negotiations and stop holding the world hostage.

The German chancellor also issued three clear demands to Tehran: 'The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz must end. Tehran must not possess nuclear weapons. There cannot be any further threats or attacks against our partners.'
Merz urged Iran to return to the negotiating table and 'stop holding the region and the world hostage.'
