Iran and the United States have maintained channels of indirect message exchanges in recent days, according to confirmations from both sides. The move comes amid continued high tensions between Tehran and Washington over the nuclear program and regional issues.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani stated that the exchanges occur through diplomatic channels, primarily involving Oman and Qatar. He emphasized, “These exchanges are ongoing and focus on fundamental differences, but no direct negotiations have been established.”
On the US side, an unnamed State Department official confirmed that Washington “maintains indirect communication channels” but declined to provide details. The official added that the US has seen no clear signals from Iran indicating a willingness to compromise on nuclear issues.
Analysts suggest that maintaining dialogue via intermediaries may help de-escalate tensions, but the prospect of a comprehensive agreement remains distant. Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency continues to closely monitor Iran’s nuclear activities, which have exceeded limits set by the 2015 JCPOA agreement.
