Theo Kyodo News

SV.League, Japan's premier volleyball competition, opened its women's season with an official match in Bangkok on Saturday — the first time the league has held a competitive fixture abroad. Organizers framed the move as part of a broader push to grow the league's presence across Asia.

Japan's top volleyball league, SV.League, held its women's season opener in Bangkok on Saturday, marking the first time the league has staged an official match outside Japan.

According to organizers, the event is part of SV.League's strategy to expand into the Asian market and bring its matches closer to fans in the region.

The Bangkok opener was the league's first official match held beyond Japanese territory, kicking off this year's women's season.
