Tigers' Sato Wins First Triple Crown Since Murakami

Tigers hitter Sato has won the first Triple Crown of his career, marking the first time a player has achieved the feat since Murakami.

According to Kyodo News, Sato of the Tigers completed the batting performance that put him in Japanese baseball history with the Triple Crown, an honor awarded to the player who leads the league in all three key hitting categories — batting average, home runs and RBIs — over a single season.

The title marks the first Triple Crown by a player since the era of Murakami, continuing the tradition of the league's finest sluggers.
