Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a recent statement, sharply criticized US President Donald Trump, describing him as “out of control” and “unable to escape the quagmire he has created for himself.” The remarks came amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Ahmadinejad stressed that the actions of the US administration in the Middle East—particularly its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) and the imposition of harsh economic sanctions—have left Washington isolated. “They think military force can solve every problem, but in reality, they are digging a hole for themselves,” he said.
The former Iranian president also warned that continued US interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states only increases regional instability. He called on the international community to condemn the Trump administration’s “irresponsible” actions, while affirming that Iran would resolutely defend its national interests.
Ahmadinejad’s comments reflect the view of many analysts who argue that Washington’s maximum-pressure strategy has not forced Iranian concessions, but has instead escalated the situation.
