Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on [date] that a 'final, agreed peace deal text' between the United States and Iran had been reached. The announcement came via social media platform X, following warnings from US and Iranian officials against trusting speculative reports about the terms of a new agreement.
Sharif wrote: 'Pakistan is now coordinating closely with both sides to finalize the next steps. Peace has never been closer than it is now.'
His statement came shortly after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a deal was 'never closer' and urged 'the media to avoid speculation about its content.' US President Donald Trump shared Araghchi's statement on his Truth Social account.
Earlier, President Trump criticized reports about alleged terms of the deal, which have not been officially released. He appeared to respond to an IRNA report listing seven key points attributed to the agreement, which claimed no new concessions on Iran's nuclear program or control of the Strait of Hormuz, and the immediate release of some Iranian assets.
A US official rejected that characterization, asserting the deal under discussion would include dismantling Iran's nuclear program, destroying nuclear material, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. US Vice President JD Vance also denied any immediate release of Iranian assets.
Vance wrote on X: 'The deal is structured to ensure that the interests of the US and allies are prioritized, and if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and the entire region. This deal has the potential to reshape the region and lead to lasting peace.'
