Pakistan officially affirmed today that it will continue border security cooperation with Iran as the two countries enhance coordination to address shared threats. The statement from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry emphasized that consultations and information exchanges between the two sides remain regular.
According to sources, Pakistan and Iran have established security cooperation mechanisms along their more than 900-kilometer border, including joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and periodic meetings between border guard forces. Both sides have also committed to preventing the activities of non-state armed groups that could destabilize the region.
In recent months, Islamabad and Tehran have intensified high-level dialogue, with reciprocal visits by military and diplomatic officials. This is seen as an effort to build trust and promote long-term stability along a border region that has experienced tensions in the past.
Pakistan said it will continue close cooperation with Iran within the framework of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, while expressing hope for the growing and sustainable development of bilateral relations.
