President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social on August 28 that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post at the end of the month to prioritize her family.
In his post, Trump praised Leavitt as "a true leader at the White House" who has "done an outstanding job for justice, freedom, and liberty" since 2018. He also said she would remain one of the "top outside advisers" and an "influential voice in the Republican Party."
Leavitt, 27, is a longtime aide to Trump. In early May, she and her husband Nicholas Riccio welcomed their second daughter, Viviana. She had taken a break from her duties since late April and returned to the White House podium for her first official press briefing after maternity leave in mid-July.
Trump emphasized: "Karoline is one of the finest White House press secretaries in the history of this office."
It remains unclear who will succeed Leavitt as White House press secretary.
