At least 24 people were killed in a bombing targeting a military train in the southwestern province of Balochistan, Pakistan, a senior official reported.
The attack occurred on Sunday near the provincial capital Quetta, killing numerous soldiers and wounding over 50 people. The official stated that as the train passed through the Chaman Pattak signal area in Quetta, an explosive-laden vehicle rammed into one of the carriages, causing a massive blast.
The force of the explosion derailed two carriages, which caught fire, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The attack took place in an area usually occupied by security forces, causing heavy damage to several nearby buildings and shattering windows of over a dozen parked cars along the road.
The separatist group Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.
