On January 15, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation, focusing on regional developments and bilateral issues.
According to a statement from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly issues related to security and stability in Syria, Iraq, and the Persian Gulf region. Foreign Minister Araghchi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Tehran and Ankara to promote sustainable peace and security.
For his part, Foreign Minister Fidan affirmed that Turkey values its relationship with Iran and is ready to coordinate closely to address common challenges. The two diplomats also discussed boosting economic, trade, and energy cooperation between the two countries.
The phone call took place against a backdrop of rising tensions in the Middle East, linked to the Israel-Hamas conflict and attacks by Houthi forces in Yemen. Both Iran and Turkey play significant roles in shaping the regional landscape.
