On December 6, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi held a phone call to exchange views on key regional issues, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement from Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides emphasized the importance of the Strait of Hormuz for regional security and stability, while discussing measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in maritime and energy sectors.
The phone call took place amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region, linked to attacks on commercial ships and accusations from the United States and Western countries regarding Iran's activities in this strategic waterway.
Oman, located on the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula, often serves as a mediator in dialogues between Iran and Western nations, as well as between Iran and Gulf states.
