On November 5, in an official statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for what he called its role in "US and Israeli aggression" against Iran. Araghchi asserted that the UAE has acted as an active partner, supporting US and Israeli military campaigns in the region.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Western powers and their Middle Eastern allies. Tehran has long accused the UAE of allowing US and Israeli military bases on its territory to conduct surveillance and strikes against Iran.
The UAE has not yet issued an official response to the allegations. Relations between Tehran and Abu Dhabi have fluctuated, particularly after the UAE normalized ties with Israel under the 2020 Abraham Accords. Iran views this move as a betrayal of the Islamic world and the Palestinian cause.
The current tensions could further complicate the already volatile situation in the Middle East, as Iran continues to bolster cooperation with regional allies, including Saudi Arabia and armed groups in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
