On February 18, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi departed from Tehran to New Delhi, India, to attend a ministerial meeting of the BRICS group, as announced by Iran's Foreign Ministry.
The trip comes as Iran deepens cooperation with emerging economies, including BRICS members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This is the first BRICS meeting of 2025, focusing on global economic and political issues.
Iran officially became a BRICS member in January 2025, alongside several other nations. This participation is seen as a key step for Tehran to promote multilateral relations and counter international sanctions.
Further details on the agenda and sideline meetings of Foreign Minister Araghchi in New Delhi will be updated later.
