The remarks were made amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, relating to Tehran’s nuclear program and Israeli-linked attacks on Iranian targets in Syria.
According to Araghchi, 'the Israeli regime has turned into a genocidal sect, threatening not only Palestinians but the entire region and the world.' He called on the international community to take concrete action to curb what he described as 'Israel's recklessness.'
There has been no official reaction from Israel so far regarding the Iranian foreign minister’s remarks. Relations between the two countries have been long strained, with numerous indirect confrontations via proxy forces and cyberattacks.
