Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Pakistan's capital Islamabad on March 10 as part of preparations for President Masoud Pezeshkian's official visit expected later this week.
The Iranian diplomat's trip comes as the two neighboring Islamic nations strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, security, and energy. Foreign Minister Araghchi is expected to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar to discuss cooperation agreements and the agenda for the high-level visit.
According to diplomatic sources, President Pezeshkian's visit aims to deepen ties between Tehran and Islamabad, which have made significant progress over the past year. The two sides are expected to sign several memoranda of understanding on trade and investment, as well as exchange views on regional issues, including Afghanistan and common security threats.
Iran and Pakistan share a nearly 900-kilometer-long border. In recent years, the two nations have stepped up security coordination to combat militant groups operating along the frontier. President Pezeshkian's visit is expected to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
