On April 7, at the federal court in Washington, Cole Allen pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump. The 31-year-old suspect also pleaded not guilty to other charges, including assaulting a federal officer and weapons-related offenses.
Allen’s attorney entered the plea on his behalf, while Allen did not address the court. The man is accused of storming the White House ballroom and opening fire during an event last month.
Prosecutors said Allen fired at a U.S. Secret Service agent and attacked a security checkpoint in an attempt to assassinate President Trump and administration officials at a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. The case remains under investigation.
