Washington on October 25 dismissed reports that Iran still maintains missile launchers, reaffirming its firm stance on nuclear issues and regional security.
In a brief statement, a US State Department spokesperson said: “Allegations that Iran is still operating underground or above-ground missile bases are unfounded. The US is closely cooperating with allies to monitor all military activities by Iran, and there is currently no evidence to support that claim.”
Earlier, some media outlets had reported that Iran may still maintain underground ballistic missile launchers to challenge international sanctions. However, Iran has not yet issued an official response to these allegations.
The US denial comes amid stalled negotiations over Iran's missile program. Last week, the United Nations Security Council also discussed reports of violations of resolutions related to Iran's missiles but reached no final conclusion.
Analysts suggest that the US rejection of the information may be aimed at avoiding unnecessary escalation of tensions while maintaining diplomatic pressure on Tehran. Experts also warn that if the allegations are true, it would constitute a serious violation of the international agreements that Iran has signed.
