Lionel Messi trained separately during Argentina's first practice session at their U.S. base, where the squad is gathering ahead of this week's World Cup preparations.
The defending world champions held their first pre-tournament training on Monday in Kansas City. The Inter Miami captain has been dealing with muscle fatigue in his left hamstring since May 24 but is expected to be ready for the opening match against Algeria on June 16 in Kansas City.
Messi, 38, arrived at Argentina's training base and performed "specific exercises" alongside several teammates also dealing with fitness issues. The Argentine Football Association said: "Players with minor injuries and health issues continue working with the physiotherapy staff, performing specific exercises on the field and making good progress."
Argentina, ranked third in the world, will play their final warm-up match against Iceland on June 9 in Auburn, Alabama. Messi, a two-time MLS MVP and eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, is competing in his sixth World Cup. The midfielder is Argentina's most-capped player (198 appearances) and all-time leading scorer (116 goals) since his debut in 2005.
