Manchester City beat Brentford 3-0 at the Etihad, cutting the gap to league leaders Arsenal to 2 points. Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, and Omar Marmoush scored the goals.
Manchester City kept their slim Premier League title hopes alive with a 3-0 victory over Brentford at the Etihad on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola's side struggled to break down Brentford's defense for nearly an hour. But a stunning long-range strike from Jeremy Doku in the 60th minute opened the scoring, before Erling Haaland netted his 26th league goal of the season and Omar Marmoush sealed the win in stoppage time.
The victory cut the gap to league leaders Arsenal to two points, putting pressure on Mikel Arteta's side ahead of their match against West Ham on Sunday. Arsenal will win their first title in 22 years if they win their remaining games against West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace.
The match was a tight affair. Doku came close early, while City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma nearly made a costly error. Haaland missed a golden chance from a Doku pass, and Bernardo Silva escaped with just a yellow card for a rash challenge on Nathan Collins.
In the second half, Guardiola brought on Marmoush and Phil Foden, and the changes paid off immediately. Doku repeated his curling long-range strike from the Everton game to break the deadlock. Haaland doubled the lead in the 75th minute with a clever backheel from an Antoine Semenyo pass. Marmoush made it 3-0 in the final seconds.
City face Crystal Palace on Wednesday before turning their attention to the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 16.
