Manchester City have officially completed the signing of 22-year-old winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras on a five-year contract, with the Brazilian becoming the sixth new arrival at the Etihad during this summer's transfer window.
City's football director, Hugo Viana, said on Monday: “Allan is a really exciting player, and we believe he will be a great addition to the squad. In his short career so far, he has shown the determination to become the best version of himself.”
According to British media, City have agreed to pay around $47 million for the player, who came through the youth ranks of the São Paulo club. Elias has made 96 first-team appearances for Palmeiras.
Before Allan Elias, City had already brought in Elliot Anderson, Geronimo Rulli, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Jeremy Monga, and Pierce Charles this summer.
Speaking about his move to the English club, Allan said: “This is an incredible moment for me. City, with what they have achieved over the past 15 years, is one of the most attractive clubs in the world for any player. Being here today to say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life. I love Palmeiras and always will — but the decision to come to City was easy.”
The Florianopolis-born player expressed his hope to become “another good Brazilian” in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Gabriel Jesus, Ederson, and Fernandinho, all of whom have won the title with City.
