On June 4, a memorial ceremony for Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was held in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. The event was organized by the Iranian Embassy in Tunisia in coordination with local cultural organizations, aiming to honor his spiritual and political legacy.
The ceremony was attended by numerous diplomatic officials, Islamic scholars, and representatives of Tunisian civil society organizations. Speakers emphasized the importance of Imam Khomeini’s ideas in promoting peace, justice, and unity within the Islamic world.
In his remarks at the event, the Iranian Ambassador to Tunisia stated: “Imam Khomeini was not just a leader for Iran, but a symbol of national liberation struggle and the spirit of self-determination for Islamic nations.”
Tunisian scholars also expressed admiration for Imam Khomeini’s contributions to Islamic academia, especially his works on philosophy and theology. The event concluded with recitations from the Quran and prayers for peace in the Middle East.
