Israel Continues Strikes on Southern Lebanon Despite Ceasefire Deal

Israel has carried out a series of new attacks on towns in southern Lebanon, violating the ceasefire agreement between the two sides, according to Al Jazeera reporters at the scene.

The towns of Majdal Selem and Haris were struck by airstrikes, while Deir al-Zahrani and al-Nabitieh al-Fawqa came under heavy artillery fire.

The attacks come despite previous reports by US officials of a “positive” round of talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington last Thursday.
