Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon killed at least 4 and wounded 8, violating a formal ceasefire, Lebanese media reported. The Israeli army had earlier ordered the forced evacuation of nine towns in southern and eastern Lebanon citing Hezbollah infrastructure.
Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon on the day killed at least 4 people and wounded 8, according to Lebanese media. The National News Agency (NNA) of Lebanon reported that two medical workers were injured while rushing to aid victims in the latest attacks by the Israeli army, which violated the official ceasefire.
The medical workers were wounded in an airstrike targeting a rescue team from the Islamic Health Authority in the town of Toul, Nabatieh province, as they responded to an earlier attack. Two men were killed and five others injured in an airstrike on the town of Ebba, also in Nabatieh.
The NNA added that a drone strike on a car in the town of Haris, Bint Jbeil district, killed a man and wounded his brother. Israeli fighter jets targeted the home of a former city leader in Sajd, with additional attacks recorded in Kfar Rumman and Safad al-Battikh.
Before the attacks, the Israeli army issued forced evacuation orders for nine towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, including Rihan, Jarjou, Kfar Rumman, Nmairiyeh, Arabsalim, Harouf in Nabatieh, and Jmayjmeh, Mashghara, Qlayaa in the east. Military spokesman Avichay Adraee called on residents of these towns to evacuate due to Hezbollah infrastructure in the area.
The Israeli army also reported that a soldier was killed by a Hezbollah drone near the border, and three other soldiers were wounded in an explosion from a booby-trapped device on a drone.
Israeli forces continue to clash with Hezbollah and carry out attacks despite a ceasefire beginning on April 17 and later extended to mid-May. Since March 2, Israeli attacks have killed at least 2,840 people in Lebanon, wounded nearly 8,700, and displaced over one million, according to Lebanese figures.
The United States is preparing to host further peace negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Washington next Thursday and Friday. Hezbollah has criticized the Lebanese government for participating in these talks.
