On May 25, Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip killed at least five Palestinians, including three in Deir el-Balah and others in Khan Younis and Beit Lahiya.
The attack on the central city of Deir el-Balah targeted a community kitchen, and all three victims were charity workers, according to Al Jazeera correspondent Hind Khoudary reporting from Gaza City.
“This shows Israel is targeting not only people but also the organizations that serve the community across Gaza,” Khoudary added.
In response to the attack, Hamas called it “a deliberate war crime and a new scene of the ongoing genocide against our people in the Gaza Strip.”
“This happens amid groundless international silence and inaction, which encourages the occupation forces to continue their massacres, defying all international values, norms and laws,” the armed group said in a statement.
According to figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry on May 25, Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza has killed at least 72,760 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, including at least 871 since the so-called cease-fire began in October last year.
The Israeli military occupies about 60 percent of Gaza’s territory, demarcated by the so-called “golden boundary line” – a buffer zone.
Inside that area on May 25, the Israeli military said its troops killed one person, claiming without evidence that the victim was armed and posed an immediate threat to soldiers.
The army statement also said a Hamas commander had been killed, identifying the man as Bahaa Baroud. There was no immediate confirmation from the group.
