Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday (August 10) announced that Israel has formally rejected the 15-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump for the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the territory until Hamas is completely disarmed.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said, “Israel rejects the 15-point document,” referring to the plan that the Palestinian armed group had endorsed last month. He added: “The Israeli military will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas actually disarms and will continue to prevent threats to our forces and our citizens.”
The statement comes as Israel continues to conduct near-daily deadly strikes across the Gaza Strip since reaching a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in October last year.
Last week, the US-led Peace Council said that Israel's withdrawal from Gaza could only take place after the disarmament of Hamas is completed, following a meeting between the council's director, Nickolay Mladenov, and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
